Are you feeling bleary-eyed? Do you need a second cup of coffee today to keep studying?

The midterm season can be tough. It involves long hours of studying, not nearly enough sleep, as well as mounting stress and anxiety. Therefore, when our steam is running low and we require a pick-me-up to keep studying, where do we go? Here is a list of the best coffee spots at the University of Prince Edward Island.

NOTE: Due to COVID-19, some of these facilities may not be operating during normal hours. Please contact them ahead of time and be patient. Thank you.

The Fox and Crow

Conveniently located in the W.A. Murphy Student Centre, The Fox and Crow is a typical coffee spot for the University of Prince Edward Island students. They open daily at 8 AM with coffee, cafe beverages, breakfast, and pastries available for dine-in or take-out.

Moreover, along with a great cup of coffee, there are a ton of fun activities here. The Fox and Crow also host live performances, music, trivia nights, and game nights to keep things lively during your study break!

Samuel’s Cafe

This is a recent addition to the Robertson Library. You can find Samuel’s Cafe in “The Pit”. If you are studying at the library, then Samuel’s Cafe is the ideal location to grab a quick coffee or tea because there are convenient options such as Van Houtte and David’s Tea.

AVC Cafe

If you are looking for a snack with your coffee, then try the AVC Cafe. The AVC Cafe is in the Atlantic Veterinary College and is open Monday – Friday from 8 AM to 3 PM. They offer daily soups, as well as a breakfast menu and deli bar for lunch. Most importantly, there is Van Houtte coffee for students who are in need of their next caffeine fix.

Tim Hortons

Good old Tim Hortons. The Tim Hortons on campus is also in the W.A. Murphy Student Centre, making it easily accessible to all students. So pick up an iced capp, latte, coffee, tea, etc. — whatever suits your fancy — and pair it with a small breakfast item to get through a hard day of studying and work. Tim Hortons is open Monday – Friday from 8 AM – 2 PM.

Starbucks

Located on Queen Street, Starbucks is another great place for students. Not only is Starbucks close to campus, but it is an ideal area to study. So if you don’t mind the higher prices, then pick up your favourite seasonal beverage and hunker down at Starbucks to get through your workload.

Sum Up

Find your favourite coffee spot on or near campus! If you’re looking for coffee and entertainment, then try Fox and Crow. If you want a new study spot, check out Starbucks. And if you are hoping to grab lunch with your coffee, then the AVC Cafe is for you. However, if you simply want a quick and convenient pick-me-up, then head over to Tim Hortons or Samuel’s Cafe. Happy studying, friends!
