Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, give back to your community, and build skills for your future. MacEwan University has all kinds of different volunteer opportunities to help students get involved on campus.
Convocation
Volunteers are an important part of MacEwan University’s convocation ceremonies every June and November. While graduates excitedly don caps and gowns and proudly receive their degree, diploma or certificate in front of classmates and loved ones, volunteers ensure the day runs smoothly. You can lend a hand by greeting guests, assisting with gowning and guiding graduates through each moment of the ceremony.
MacEwan International
MacEwan International offers students various opportunities to gain valuable volunteer experience. Please contact international@macewan.ca to learn more about current openings.
Mitchell Art Gallery
Volunteer for two to three hours a week and receive exclusive access to workshops on art handling, installation and care. In addition, volunteers get in-depth training about the contemporary artworks in the exhibition.
New Student Orientation
Each fall and winter, student volunteers lead tours, greet new students, serve as mascots or mascot assistants, share their own first-year stories and much more. Contact the Welcome Team if you would like to support new students as they start their post-secondary journey.
Office of Human Rights, Diversity and Equity (OHRDE)
If you are interested in working on initiatives that help promote diversity and inclusion on campus, volunteering for the OHRDE could be for you. Organizing awareness events, supporting campus and community outreach projects, participating in campus presentations and peer dialogue sessions—when you volunteer with the Office of Human Rights, Diversity and Equity, you develop valuable professional and personal skills. They also offer training programs to support students who want to take their volunteer skills to the next level. (Contact them here)
Office of Sexual Violence, Prevention, Education and Response (OSVPER)
Help build a culture of consent at MacEwan University. Receive training, join committees and share your experience as we work together to raise awareness about and address sexual violence on campus. Some opportunities include MacEwan Anti-Violence Education Network (MAVEN) and the Ending Sexual Violence Student Research Forum.
