When paying thousands for a post-secondary education, you would hope your university or college gives you a few perks for going to their school! Sheridan College definitely does not disappoint! Each of the campuses is full of multiple resources for all of their students. These are the top resources at Sheridan College- did we mention they’re free?

1. COUNSELLING

School is by no means easy. And sometimes, you just feel overwhelmed and need someone to talk to. If you are having difficulty coping with stress/anxiety, struggling with confidence and self-esteem, dealing with relationship and family issues along with anything else, Sheridan Counselling Services has got your back! The school offers free counselling to all students. This is a great tool because it helps decrease the effects of your struggles on your educational success. And it’s all confidential, so no need to worry! If you’re on the verge about trying counselling, we say go for it! What’s the worst that can happen? If anything, know that you’re not alone and when you seek help, you will find it! To learn more about Sheridan’s counselling services, click here

2. TUTORING

While you might find some courses really fun and smooth-sailing, other courses might really challenge you. But that’s okay- Sheridan has got you covered. The Tutoring Centre provides tons of learning support for their students.

Learning Assistants

Learning Assistants offer free tutoring sessions in certain subject areas. You can book an appointment from 30 minutes to an hour in length and you are able to book up to 2 hours per week per subject! That means if you need help with three subjects, you can book up to 6 hours of tutoring. What a steal! Learning Assistants provide tutoring for the following subjects:

  • Architecture
  • Business
  • Citations & References
  • Computer Programming
  • Math
  • Chemistry
  • English/Writing
  • Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
  • Interior Decorating and Design

Peer-Assisted Learning

We all know first year can be a huge smack in the face. Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) is a free program exclusively for first-year students. Sessions are held based on course or program and review material already covered by the professor. There are also drop-in “study hall” sessions if you’re looking for a more chill study environment. If you’re getting ready to start your education at Sheridan, keep an eye out for PAL, because you won’t have access to it for long!

Peer Tutors

If the Learning Assistants or PAL program doesn’t offer exactly what you’re looking for, you can sign up for a Peer Tutor. This resource requires a fee, but it gives you access to a current Sheridan student that has been chosen based on their grades and a faculty reference! Your peer tutor will be committed to fulfilling your academic goals and reaching your full potential!

Academic Skills Hub

Academic Skills Hub is an online collection of modules converting topics such as time management, note-taking, and key studying and test taking strategies.
