In terms of academic assistance, Ontario tech is very helpful to its students as it offers resources depending on specific options as per course opportunities. For one on one support students can choose the course they need aid in and also view a scheduling calendar that they can decide on when they need this assistance for. The student life portal is also another very rich resource where students can go, in order to discover more resources for academic support. It is available to students both inside and outside of the classroom to provide assistance. Consider asking one of our teams to speak in your classroom or sending your kids to us for assistance. Our teams collaborate with academics and staff in a variety of ways. This page explains some of the several ways you may work with Student Life.
Academic Subject Specialist:
At Ontario Tech, the students can schedule one-on-one meetings with an academic topic specialist or a peer tutor in a range of subject areas. Academic topic specialists are required to have earned a master’s or professional degree in their field. Upper-class students who have received an A in the courses they advise serve as peer tutors. Students should come prepared with specific questions as the average appointment lasts 45 minutes. This session is often regarding the subject and ideas of concern that the student may have. They are invited to bring their homework, assignment rubrics, and any other resources that are related to the topic they are reviewing.Students must be able to demonstrate the root of an issue they are attempting to solve. Students can approach difficult-to-understand topics at their own speed and level of education in one-on-one sessions.
PASS:
The Peer Assisted Study Session Leaders (PASS), peer tutoring and success coaching. Volunteers are often in the role of notetaking and are just a few of the Academic Support services offered by the Office of Student Life. Students may offer their expertise and assist other students while improving their resumes and obtaining significant leadership experience through these paid and volunteer roles.

The system for this service requires that a student give at the minimum a 24 hour notice before cancelling an appointment. If it is cancelled in under 24 hours then the student will be considered as a no-show. No-shows are a bad look on students, as they are considered striked, 3 strikes within a semester and you will no longer be able to book appointments until the next semester begins.
Overall there’s alot of flexibility in where and to what extent student’s can expect assistance for their academic needs. ESL/EAL, writing, math, physics, chemistry, engineering, and study habits development are all some of the fields in which assistance can be expected. There’s even workshops and clubs students can join for even more aid. The possibilities are endless.
