At Dalhousie University, “Money Matters”, and as such they have various entrance scholarships, bursaries and in-course scholarships available for both domestic and international applicants. Applying for scholarships can be very tiring, however, Dalhousie University has made it easier by creating one general application which will be used for a plethora of scholarships. However, there are still some scholarships that require a separate application.

Entrance Scholarships/Awards

These are given to successful applicants entering the university only from the high school level (or applicants who have not completed any other transferable post-secondary). The exception to this would be transfer students who are also eligible to apply for the First Nations and Indigenous Black Students Scholarships.

These entrance awards fall into two categories, namely, renewable and non-renewable. Non-renewable scholarships are a one-time payment given for the year of entry while renewable scholarships are given at the year of entry and can last for 4 years if a certain GPA is met.

To apply for the entrance awards every applicant needs to complete the General Entrance Award Application. Approval of application and funding is based on admission average, which is a minimum of 80% or 26 predicted IB Diploma points, along with the financial need and the applicant’s background. Entrance awards range from $500 to $48,000 over four years.

There are also entrance scholarships that are specific to students who identify as Black, Indigenous and/or having a Disability, as well as International Students.

These scholarships only require the completion of the General Entrance Award application
