Does your idea of a day well spent involve flipping through the pages of Architectural Digest? What about taking long walks through the isles of HomeSense, Pottery Barn, or maybe even a trip to Restoration Hardware (if you’re lucky)? It could mean that Interior Design is the career path for you! Check out Yorkville University to get started.
The Bachelor of Interior Design at Yorkville University provides industry-accredited training and hands-on professional experience to launch and advance your career as an interior designer. The three-year online program will teach you the theory and practice of interior decorating principles, which includes visual communications, materials, textiles, finishes, and architectural design.
Not only will you learn about the traditional paths, such as residential interior decorating and staging, but you’ll also receive training in more niche avenues like lighting, exhibit, and furniture design. Much like other forms of art, the possibilities are endless in the world of design, and Yorkville University will prepare you for whatever path you choose to take.
As an added bonus, the program is recognized by the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) and Interior Designers of Canada (IDC). It is also accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) so you’ll have an advantage against the competition.
What makes Interior Design at Yorkville University unique?
The program includes all of the necessary and practical skills you will need to succeed as an interior designer without all of the extra clutter (think contemporary minimalism).
Over an 11-week period and under the supervision of experienced faculty, you’ll transform the concepts learned in class into real-life experiences. You’ll research, analyze and synthesize design briefs to create experimental design solutions for a variety of spaces and industries. Through this project, you are the designer, and upon graduation, you can add this masterpiece to your portfolio to show off your skill and creativity. It’s also a great way to figure out what kind of design you enjoy most.
Since 2004, Yorkville University has successfully expanded into three main campuses: Vancouver, Toronto, and Fredericton. Known for its practical and flexible learning accommodations, you can start learning when it’s right for you! The program offers various start dates throughout the year. Speaking of flexibility, whether you’re studying or working full time, you can design your schedule to meet your needs.
