Ryer-what? RYERSON!

Look, you seem like a nice person. I can tell just based off the fact that you clicked on this article. You’re smart, you’re trying to weigh out all your options as to which post-grad school you want to attend. Trust me I get it! It’s a tough decision, but the fact you’re already considering Ryerson is one step in the right direction. Since you seem like such a nice person, I think it’s best that I share 5 Facts You Should Know About Ryerson Before You Consider Other Universities.

#1. You’ll get 2 Reading Weeks

Ryerson truly prides itself in how much they care about their students’ mental health. While most schools have only one reading week, Ryerson offers TWO. One for each semester! I know it sounds like one of those deals you’d find at HM, go on one reading week get a second FREE. But it’s true! You get a reading week in the fall semester and another one in the winter. Which is perfect to coordinate trips to visit your friends at other schools, go home for the break, travel, or of course… read…

#2. Ryerson’s Student Learning Centre

The Ryerson Student Learning Centre has become a stable to Downtown Toronto’s tourist attractions. It’s already been featured in several architecture magazines, but also has been in several hollywood movies (same with other parts of campus!) The SLC has 8 unique floors that fit a different them based off what students need most for studying. Floors range from Garden, Sun, Sky even beach themed! The space is the perfect study spot to any Ryerson student, but it’s also a hot spot for socializing in between classes.

#3. Double the gyms, double the fun!

Although I wish freshman fifteen wasn’t a real thing, sadly it is! But at Ryerson there’s a major way to avoid it. Ryerson has two gyms: Ryerson Athletic Centre (RAC for short) and the Mattamy Athletic Centre (MAC for short). The RAC is actually an underground gym that includes a track, basketball courts, women’s only workout hours, HITT and yoga classes, and more. While the MAC, which was once the famous Maple Leafs Garden, has a hockey rink, state of the art athletic equipment, and more. Freshman fifteen could NEVER.

#4. You’re in Downtown Toronto!

If you were ever jealous of the cast of Gossip Girl while they attended University in New York, then Ryerson is the place for you. Not only are you going to a great school, but you’re steps from Dundas Square, the Canadian, friendlier version of Time Square! Plus it’s right beside The Toronto Eaton Centre, the biggest mall in Toronto. So if class is stressing you out you can always spend your worries away.

#5. Famous People Have Gone to Ryerson!

Not to brag but Ryerson has some pretty impressive alumni such as Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries), Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars), Charlotte Arnold (Degrassi), Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Sabrina Jalees (Comedian), Hannah Simone (New Girl), Eric McCormack (Will & Grace), and recently Mena Massoud (Aladdin). Not to mention the 6ix God himself, Drake, has performance not just once but TWICE at Ryerson University. If that doesn’t sell you, I don’t know what will!

If any of the things I said excited you in the SLIGHTEST, then it means Ryerson is the school for you! If they didn’t tickle your tummy, then that’s fine, close this tab and explore other university options… I won’t take it personality, it just means we can’t be friends… Jokes aside, choosing a university can be stressful, but no matter what the experience is what you make it. All schools provide amazing education, so just breathe, RELAX, and choose what feels right! Best of luck.
